Cat-astrophe

Sometimes, you can get points for trying...

Marvel Crisis Protocol - Black Cat

Black Cat, aka Felicia Hardy (and not Selina Kyle, let's be quite clear about that), was a relatively early release in the life of Marvel Crisis Protocol. But she remains one of the most popular characters in the game, thanks to a number of abilities that allow her to steal objectives, stagger opponents and swing away where she can't even be targeted.

Basically, if Felicia has enough power to spend, she's nicking your stuff and you can't do a thing about it.

Ironic that such a well-used model is an ... interesting design choice. She's captured mid-blackflip, which is perfectly in-character for her gymnastic abilities. The depiction in fine, and it would work well in a diorama, but as a gaming piece, it comes across as a bit odd, and you're not entirely sure which way she should be facing.

Still, I give props to the sculptors for taking a swing. In the following years, they've done some great work to show characters defying gravity (Lizard, anyone?), so you can't begrudge the odd miss.

I've seen some good conversions to improve the model - such as leaping forwards off a lamppost, or hanging down vertically between security lasers. For myself, I took a more pragmatic approach: wait for the release of a new model (I've seen the teaser, and it's much improved).

And the advantage for the superstitious: it's very hard to tell if she's actually crossed your path.
