Apparently, it's a venom blast, but it certainly seems like he's riding a bolt of lightning.
It's another Miles Morales Spider-Man. This one is a higher threat level, with greater control over his powers (so Movie 2 Miles, rather than Movie 1 Miles, if you like). His adjective comes from the 'Ultimate' branch of Marvel comics where he first appeared (he's since jumped over to the regular timeline - maybe a portent for the cinematic universe?)
I've faced this model across the table and, once his gets his power going, he is formidable. Additional movement, as you'd expect from a Web Warrior, with a Mjolnir-worthy venom blast and the ability to punch back when hit.
The only drawback with this 4 Threat Miles Morales is that the 3 Threat Miles Morales is also an incredible character as well, and they can't play at the same time. So that's a good problem to have, at least.
Model-wise, he does have the advantage of being mid-leap. The other Miles is crouched in the act of vaulting over a newspaper stand and, while it's very dynamic, it does crunch up the body, so you can't see all the spider iconography.
Colour-wise, the venom blast was a Averland Sunset base, given an Iyanden Yellow contrast and blended back up with Yriel Yellow and Flash Gitz Yellow. It's also a lot more stable that it looks, which is always a plus.
Miles himself was the usual recipe for black, with the usual recipe for red picked out over the top. Finelining all the little webs was the tricky part, but I managed a neater job than the camera makes it look. You'll have to take my word for it.
I kept my motif of scattering copies of the Daily Bugle on the Web Warriors' bases. To fit this into the venom blast, I burnt away the edges of the paper with a candle (that was a nail-biter). And Ultimate Spider-Man is ready to go!
