Weekend at Burnie’s 5 - Day 2: Orks vs Imperial Fists

Pootle here with the write-up of my final game at this year's Weekend at Burnies against Vertica40k (who I played a 2k game against not so very long ago). At one level it was a shame not to play against one of the other amazing armies on display who I'd not faced before, but after four games my brain was a little frazzled so it was good to play against a familiar army led by a general with exactly the right attitude of wanting a relaxed game to end the weekend on.

Weekend at Burnie’s 5 - Day 2: Orks vs Black Templars

Pootle here again! With batteries recharged, my first game on the second day of Weekend at Burnies was against Warsmith Chris, who stepped into a gap left by someone who didn't make it back in time. I've not played against Black Templars before, but once again it's great to have a narrative-friendly match-up for the Orks.

Oblidicate the Eraterators: Crypt Saints vs Crypt Fallen

Naxramus turned as Falchio entered the chamber. "My...Lord, we've received word from our Alpha Legion contact: if we are to believe them, our former brethren's reinforcements have left Drawbridge and will arrive here imminently." Naxramus smiled at Falchio's hesitation in acknowledging his authority: the Champion of Khorne distrusted the Tzeentchian Sorcerer's reliance on magic over brute strength. Naxramus knew Falchio was itching to attack the loyalist Crypt Angels immediately, and it was clear that his simple Khornate mind didn't appreciate the intricacies of the Lord Tzeentch's plan. He turned back to finish his dedication ritual. "Tell the tech-adepts to have the devices ready in an hour; tell them also that if they delay our attack any longer, you have my permission to dedicate their blood to your god."

A Fly in the Ointment: Space Marines vs Death Guard

Waaaaay back in March, Kasfunatu was going to bring his traitor Crypt Angels to face my Death Guard warband, The Second Law, but as Covid-19 was just about to hit we decided to play the game by Skype. Now we appear to have a window to play a face-to-face game so now he's hosting and fielding the loyalist Crypt Saints (see this report for the critical battle resolving their fate and their fluff page here for all the back story). I'll be reporting in normal type and Kasfunatu in bold

Raiders of the Lost Ork: Ultramarines vs Evil Sunz

An Ultramarines patrol has run into more representatives of the Ork incursion on the remote world of Bagot Prime. Warboss Bludteef is missing, having his Cybork body rebuilt after the last encounter between these armies, but there are plenty of Evil Sunz left to cause trouble. 

Tonight I, Pootle, am hosting Rapid (in fetching bold italics) for his first foray into 9th edition. 

A New Mantis: Mantis Warriors vs Tempestus Scions

The Mantis Warriors have strayed onto the private reserve of a planetary governor, searching for information on the whereabouts of an elusive foe. Tempestus Scions have been dispatched against them, racing to destroy the interlopers before they can ransack his data terminals.

Skype battle! And tonight Kasfunatu is taking the Mantis Warriors for their (and his) first foray into 9th Ed. I, Kraken, command the Tempestus Scions. Can I maintain the Mantis Warriors unbroken losing streak? Or will Kas finally beat the Mantis Challenge?
