Spectacular

You wait for years for a Spider-Man, and then two turn up at once...

Marvel Crisis Protocol - Spectacular Spider-Man

In my ongoing quest to redeem myself for my sloppy paintjob of the original Spidey, I've painted the Spectacular Spider-Man, who was part of the second core set.

As well as a new adjective, this Threat 3 Spider-Man is probably the best of the lot. He comes with a lot of movement and displacement abilities, which is what Web Warriors are all about. Certainly, he's a better bet that his Threat 4 counterpart.

I was into my paint recipe by this point: base the red with Khorne Red, cover with thinned Black Legion contrast, picked out each square with Khorne Red, Mephiston Red and Evil Sunz Scarlet.

For the blue: Kantor Blue base, the Caledor Sky layers, followed by a lighter layer of Caledor Sky/Ulthuan Grey.

This particular pose is shown avoiding a big blob of alien symbiote. I usually don't like bases that depict a specific villain (messes with my narrative immersion), but given I am assembling quite the collection of Spider-Men, I'm happy with the variety. I also give props to the attempt to show Spider-Man leaping through the air again.

We continue into the Spiderverse!
