Three for plasma, four for ... another plasma!
Eyes to the skies! The next phase of my Black Legion army is going to feature a lot of deepstriking!
I had all this in my head a long time before the Vigilus campaign books came out (this particular kit was last year's birthday present), but with a new jump pack character and a whole detachment for Host Raptoral, it finally got my jets firing.
Lovely models, these Raptors - the kit is not so very old, so they hold up quite well against the new scale of heretic astartes (the jumping poses help to give extra height). A solid mix of weapon options in there too - I've got a second squad with meltas awaiting their turn on the painting table.
Same colour scheme as my Chaos Space Marines, although the gold detailing is considerably more fiddly on these guys, which did slow me down a bit (I was getting flashbacks to the Rubric Marines):
As anyone who follows our battle reports will attest, my love of deepstriking special weapons into enemy lines holds no bounds.
Being Black Legion actually helps them out too (sorry Night Lords, I know you're are meant to be the fly guys) since they have access to the stratagem that allows rerolls of 1 without a Lord being present. Overcharge all the way!
And so concludes Part II in this week's ongoing saga of Shouldn't-You-Be-Finishing-Your-Space-Wolves-for WoffBoot?

- Gold armour: Retributor Armour base, Agrax Earthshade wash
- Black armour: Chaos Black base, Mechanicus Standard Grey layer,
- Pipes, straps & gun barrels: Ironbreaker base, Nuln Oil wash
- Bullets: Runelord Brass + Xv88 base, Agrax Earthshade wash
- Eyes: Mephiston Red base, Carroburg Crimson wash
- Plasma glow: Ulthuan Grey base, Guilliman Blue wash, Ulthuan Grey highlights
- Followed by a very light drybrush with Terminatus Stone

Five for silver, six for an additional -3 to your armour save, seven for those non-eucdlian dice Lovecraft wrote about.
ReplyDeleteGreat work! Bring Plasma death to your enemies.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Next month: melta death to my enemies!
DeleteCan never have too much Plasma! I've seen some people disparaging the Raptor kit, but I still really like it, and you've got some fine exemplars of it here.
ReplyDeleteCheers! Yes, I'm very happy with the kit. Plenty of options and lots of dynamic poses. I can't wait to get a whole flight of these guys into the air!
