... and even bigger vehicle!
This was the Month 3 tithe for Brapscallion's Krieg army - although for this month, he wanted a rough and ready crew of Tempestus Scions and their ride, so I could let my imagination run.
My imagination, in this case, involving a lot of decals!
I couldn't resist adding a WWII pin-up to the nosecone art, but before things got too racy, I painted a gasmask on her (safety first). The freehand name 'The Gravy Boat' was all my doing.
Taking of the inspirations from Aliens, the Ferro-style aviators head is from Statuesque miniatures - although it is slightly larger than the standard one, meaning I had to shorten her torso just to get the canopy to fit.
Speaking of the transparent canopy, it's not shown here, but I did add it. I've heard nightmare stories about superglue misting over clear plastic, so I got some Hi-Tack Very Sticky Glue which acts like PVA but holds like superglue, so I got away with it.
And, despite karma wanting otherwise, I really enjoyed the experience of painting the Valkyrie. Once it was undercoated black and misted with Mechanicus Standard Grey, the rest was just a case of finding bits and painting them.
However, I had doubts that I would enjoy painting the Scions. Having already painted a small army for Mr AP Burn (which I will post once he lets me!), I love doing these special forces guys.
This was a black undercoat, with an Iron Hands Steel drybrush to pick out the details. The armour was Thunderhawk Blue, with a Agrax Earthshade wash and most of the work was done!
And so we have the Cindarr Hell Dogs! If you have a problem, if no-one else can help, and if you can find them, they were probably the ones who caused the problem.
Excellent stuff! I'm a sucker for painted mascots on planes, and that's a corker.
ReplyDeleteThey look fantastic - the decals and (particularly) your freehand additions really bring that to life. The troops look cool too
