The Last Stand: The Purge vs Black Legion

Gormenghastly's ancient terminator plate creaked as he waded through the dust of Golfroth IV. Decius was a fool to object to his plan to join up with the Black Legion. His loyalty to Nurgle in the face of Ghox's worship of Khorne was understandable, but the Purge had always delighted in exterminating life and although Gormenghastly did not doubt his own loyalty to the Plague God, he had no objection to allying his warband to Ghox's Black Legion in the joint cause of spilling more blood.

Ghormenghastly could see the Ghox's warband just ahead. This parlay would finalise the terms of the deal to join the Black Legion. Nothing could stop him now...

Monster Mass: Tyranids vs Purge

Let's kick off 2022 with...a fight! Kraken wants to keep testing the new Hive Fleet Leviathan rules and I, Pootle, will use Kraken's tricksy Alpha Legion models to represent The Purge (my favourite flavour of CSM).

Armies on parade

Pootle here! Stylus has been gently suggesting I update my army pages, partly so that when I host a game over Skype my opposing general can see what models he can choose from, but mostly so he can get a look at what I've been up to as I'm not at all as assiduous in posting pics of all the miniatures I paint as he and Kraken are. So here's a quick summary and links to each of my armies where I’ve got pics of (almost) everything I’ve painted.

Tidal Purge: Nids vs Purge

If the summer is ending, there's still time for one last trip to the beach. So Pootle and I (Kraken) packed buckets, spades and hand grenades, then sorted out a quick battle.

The Rotfast Club: Death Guard vs The Purge

Warhammer 40k battle report - Maelstrom of War - Schemes of War - 1000 points - Death Guard vs The Purge

The Purge have heard tales of a lethal biotoxin accidentally made in an imperial manufactorum. The toxin killed everyone in the area and the facility has long been abandoned. The Purge want to find the toxin and spread it indiscriminately.

Meanwhile, the Death Guard prefer a more measured approach than planet-wide slaughter and want to take possession of the biotoxin themselves to analyse it.

I, Pootle, will continue leading The Purge after the fun I had during the Averment Campaign, and I, Stylus, will take command of the Death Guard.

Skypehammer Round 9: Unto The Breach

This is the penultimate battle of the campaign, and in the tradition of building to a crescendo, we're going to be playing doubles!

Skypehammer Round 6: Kingslayer

So far in the campaign, The Cabal have had the run of things, but who could trust a traitor?

The Green Zone: Mantis Warriors vs Purge and Nurgle Daemons

Time for a fight! Pootle has a new table to show off, and I'm happy to oblige by attempting to wipe him off it!

Unusual battle cries #17: "You don't stand a chance: I've got two different base colours on me; neither of you are even undercoated!"

Three colours? Not quite!
But it's still Skype Fight Night!

The Lost and the Damned: Death Guard vs Thousand Sons

We've had this in the calendar for months. We had a table booked at Bristol Independent Gaming. But then Storm Ciara arrived and disrupted our travel plans.

Not to be beaten by mere weather, Stylus volunteered to host a Skype battle, so the forces of Pootle's Nurgle Warband, The Second Law, could fight Stylus's Thousand Sons: the Court of Miracles.

The storm shan't stop our play: it's all-Skype fight day!

Purge and Unpurify

One gap for the Death Guard is a lack of long-range firepower. So the obvious solution was to sort out a supporting detachment of Havocs and, when Shadowspear dropped, Obliterators and a Venomcrawler seemed like a good way to complete a Spearhead Detachment.

I wanted to keep an entirely Nurgle-aligned army so, despite the temptation of Slaaneshi shooting-twice stratagems, I chose to paint these guys up as The Purge (partly because their trait of rerolling hits once a target has been wounded is pretty good too).

T'au be or not T'au be? Death Guard & Purge vs T'au

"Commander? The Death Guard force we've been tracking have returned. I'm afraid it looks like they do know about the data cache: they're moving right towards it."

"Prepare to embark. We will destroy the chaos filth and remove the substrates. They must not find out what we've discovered about their former prisoner."

It's a grudge match as Kasfunatu's T'au venture out onto the road for an actual face-to-face rematch against Pootle's Second Law.

Obliterators with marks of Nurgle? I'm such an iconoclast.

Caballistic Skill: The Cabal vs Scions and Marines

Fortune favours the bold!

Image result for chaos space marines

Hoping that battle fatigue would bring the Cabal (plus their evil overlord, Stylus) to their knees, I rounded on them firmly before they could recover from Weekend at Bernies. I, Kraken, brought the good old Tempestus Scions under Badger, along with a few Mantis Warriors.

Like an ageing crook in a heist movie, I, Stylus, will find out if The Cabal have one more job left in them...
