What's That Noise?

I think you all know the answer to this question.

Two fat units of the all new Noise Marines. Lovely models, bigger and bolder than the old style. I can't help feeling that something got lost in translation though.

For all that they're festooned with decadent gewgaws and studded leather, they're kind of static for me. Heavy and solid, none of the movement and fun some of the older, freakier models had. Nobody's throwing up the horns, there's no rock guitar freestyle knee slides, they're just kind of heavy weapon dudes and a touch generic for my taste.

Running in sixes, plus all the Blastmasters - these will put a hole in a line of marines without much effort, and boosted by strats or army rules they can dent most targets. They don't play on death any more, they aren't much cop in melee, they are most use hanging back and shooting at things. Could still kick lesser mortals apart in close combat, I guess, and their weapons are mid-range. Shoot a hole and charge into it would work.

The Lord Kakophonist is pretty cool model. As with the unit champion, putting extra melee punch on a shooty unit isn't the most effective choice. Hoo boy, I really am determined to find fault with these models, aren't I? What an old grampus.

Good fun to paint, I wouldn't knock them there. White and purple as the main colours, green or orange for flare. Took a fair while thanks to all the gems and pipes, but worth the trouble.

This fella is taking time out from the Horus Heresy to play Kakophonist too. This is Lord Eidolon with a backpack and arm switch. Fancy armour! A right devil to do the trim on. I like his hammer, it's very OTT.

Last units for this army already on the table, so hopefully not long before I can give them a send-off game!
