Kakophoning it in

It's the last batch!

Saving my favourite ones until last has become a habit. This is a squad of Kakophonoi, Horus Heresy precursors to Noise Marines. So basically exactly the same thing, and a good way of getting some variants into the army.

Kas has stuck them on cork basing, which brings them up to the same sort of height as their larger descendants. I really like them, they're a product of an older and gnarlier time. A bit more movement in the sculpts, even if they also suffer from generic heavy weapon poses. And the blastmasters are very cool -guitar necks but saxophone keys? Bet they sound terrible.

They're being led by a dude with an extra plumy helmet, the one you'd usually find on the lone Noise Marine sculpt. Which means he's got a different head, because he's here too.

That's the helmetless head from Lord Eidolon, and very goth rock it is too. This is still how noise marines look in my head canon. Yes the guitar is extremely guitary, but that is both cool and funny, and I'm here for it. Great model, no notes.

That just leaves this big guy!

Plenty of detail on the Daemon Prince. I've done my best with it, it's not in easy-to-reach places once the model is built. The skulls and straps are tucked under the wings, the cables have tons of wear on them that's in his armpits - I really needed brushes that have angles on them, like a dentist's tools. Good model, though, a very straightforward update on the old lead one with a lot of the same stuff.

I hear good things about Daemon Princes in Emperor's Children. Mortal wound bombs on the charge, I think? I've challenged Kas to a match before these guys get posted, so I look forward to sucking that up in due course. Job's a good 'un, time to paint the rewards!
