Storm of Celestus - Stormcast Proclaimors!

Second Underworlds warband coming up!

Drakan Celestus - Storm of Celestus - Stormcast Eternals Castigators for Warhammer Underworlds

I would reforge 500 miles from Azyr!

This was the other half of the Underworlds Starter set, and Stormcast are a walk in the park (albeit a very enjoyable one) to paint.

I based the miniatures in Retributor Armour (taking care to be thorough, because the Retributor from the pot does not match the Retributor from the can) and took it from there.

  • Armour: Retributor Armour, Agrax Earthshade wash, Golden Griffon drybrush
  • Robes: Khorne Red, Nuln Oil wash
  • Pauldrons: Xerus Purple, Nuln Oil wash
  • Greatbows: Iron Hands Steel, Black Templar contrast, Ulthuan Grey, Aethermatic Blue
  • Base: Deathclaw Brown, Agrax Earthshade wash, Eldar Flesh drybrush, Tyrant Skull drybrush

I thought these big, tough Stormcast would boss the games of Underworlds we played (and for the first one, they did), but the other two warbands (Wraithcreepers yesterday, and a new warband coming up) very quickly got the measure of them). There was a lot of reforging needed for this poor quartet.

But at least they managed to torture me with more tartan! Drakan Celestus has the most square footage of robes, so he got my tribute to Clan Stewart with a Mephiston Red base, Waaagh! Flesh and Ulthuan Grey criss-crosses

The fourth member of the warband was completely different - a wee Gryph-Hound named Sleek (aka 'Azyr Bobby'). A fairly simple job of Akhelian Green contrast (still looks blue to me) on the head and tail, and a blend of Averland Sunset, Iyanden Yellow and Fuegan Orange on the body. The stripes were added with a 50/50 mix of Chaos Black and Black Templar (very good for keeping black details with a nice flow on the brush).

And as a bonus - Sleek got picked up by the Warhammer TV roundup and complimented by painting legends Louise and Peachy! Immensely chuffed with that one - a proper hobby bucket list achieved!

And that's warband number two ready to fight!

These Underworlds warbands are great palette cleansers, I should have started them years ago.

  1. Painted tartan and been namedropped by the hobby lords? Is there anything left for you to achieve?
