I'm off to another tournament, grizzled veteran that I am, this will be my second.
This is a follow-on from the very successful Weekend at Burnie's earlier this year. And, like any sequel, the body count is always bigger.
Organised by the legendary Mr AP Burn - this invitational event has doubled in size since February, and will now host 30 players. Held at Bristol Independent Gaming, it is exclusive to Deployment Zone patrons.
As before, this is sold as a narrative event. This means a few restrictions to remove super-optimised lists, no Command Point re-rolls, and a lot of in-game surprises that none of the players will see coming.
As mentioned, the players are divided into two factions: The Alliance and The Cabal. Both of whom are fighting over the deamon-infested Hive World Nayala, but any one army can also choose to undermine the group's efforts and go for the big prize alone (but if they get caught ... examples will be made of them).
Anyway, it's shaping up to be a blast. I'll be posting battle reports, naturally, but if you want to follow in real-time, check out the Instagram feed over the weekend
No Thousand Sons for me this time. I instead undertook the slightly deranged quest of painting up almost an entire army in a month. But I did get to write a new piece of narrative for them: A Quiet Moment
Spread over two days, you start with a 1250pt list on Saturday, then expand to 1500pts on Sunday. I chose the simple expedient of promoting my Greater Possessed to a Daemon Prince ... whichever god he is pledged to will depend on which detachment fought best on the first day.
Which meant my last nights of tournament prep were spent painting up this bad boy:
So this is the Day 2 list I'm bringing (I went for narrative ... so it may be in for a hard time):
Points: 1500 | Battle-forged + Patrol + Vanguard + Vanguard: 5 CPs

Armour and skin were painted with totally different recipes. It's quite some achievement that they both ended up exactly the same green. |

The fate of Nayala Prime hangs in the balance...
For a fluffy list, that's a lot of firepower!
ReplyDeleteGrab that orb - no pressure, but the honour of the boot depends on your performance.
I feel completely prepared.
DeleteWhich means I must have forgotten something.
I hope you do Nurgle proud and that awesome new DP comes out to play on Sunday. Oh yes, and you make the Imperium wish they'd never bothered to bring Leviathans, Basilisks or other such nonsense...
ReplyDeleteThanks, he's the start of my Death Guard proxy, so you can feel at home during SkypeBoots.
DeleteAnd I love your narrative!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Had some fun writing that.
DeleteGreat looking force there. Cool to see them assembled all together. Once more, best of luck!
