The most fun you have have for 25pts in 40k.
Bolt fo Change, Gift of Chaos, Magnus the Red's big stick ... there are a number of ways to turn enemy characters into Chaos Spawn and, believe me, your opponent will not like any of them.
In order to curb what is clearly an addiction to kitbashing Chaos Spawn, I have a new policy: I'll only add a new one to the warband if they are created in-game.
This, of course, opens up some lovely new avenues for conversion (and still using the bits from the original Chaos Spawn kit - it may be on the pricey side for just two Spawn, but it has extra for days!).
For example, the above Spawn with the regimental cap was once a Captain of the 29th Mordian Iron Guard.
The Space Marine Spawn is a lot taller and more robust - but I figured the geneseed would be a bit more resistant than a regular human. He comes from the end of Magnus' staff from their clash with the Dark Angels.
The bits are a mix of extras from the Aggressors, Mutalith Vortex Beast and Spawn kits. The slime effects came from Bostik All-Purpose glue and Nurgle's Rot technical paint.
Not having a Dark Angel decal to hand, I had a go at freehanding the Chapter logo ... which I would say was punishment enough for my sins.
Rounding out the Imperial triumvirate is this Custodes Spawn, affectionately known as 'Rhubarb'.
This was a very rush job, as I wanted to bring a Custodes-Spawn for my clash with the Adpetus Custodes/Grey Knights. So with only a week's notice and a quick scour of eBay, I ended up with a couple of days to build and paint the thing.
Without any time to cut or re-position the limbs, this Spawn does comes across a bit static, but given that he's the corrupted form of the Emperor's superior creations, maybe he would be able to hold himself together.
And so here they are: three of the Imperium's finest!
Now I just need a MechSpawn, SisterSpawn and Grey Spawn to complete my collection!
... and Roboute Guillispawn, which I would totally do if I ever managed to turn him.
Permission to be excused, sir? |

These are awesome! I've got to get some of that glue before I get stuck into Deep Madness.
ReplyDeleteOh. I see what I did there.
Those are Inception-levels of double-meanings-within-meanings.
DeleteExcellent! I always like seeing more Spawn. There's no end of what can be done with them. My fave is the Mordian one, but I think the DA one might enjoy hanging out with my Brother Zebediah (on the right): https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Z1LAYjWtbdg/VgHocSdvOAI/AAAAAAAAAIQ/LE8huNgTLFg/s1600/JuggerSpawn.jpg
ReplyDeleteHaha! That is terrifying - great work, mate.
DeleteThanks! I love making Spawn, and he's one of my best!
