Gather the Party

A questing we shall go.

Another short anthology of Reaper bods. Stuff terrain week, I can come back to that later. Getting the last bits of this collection finished has suddenly become a much more pressing concern.

Fantasy art never really pushes the boundaries of heroic stereotypes that much, does it? This is a very bog-standard set of models. Nice ones, you know, I'm not criticising the sculpts here. But Stoic Knight, Gnome Illusionist, Lithe Sword Elf - it's not the most creative bunch. Armoured Boobies Nun is the worst of the lot. Hard to say what's pointier, her swords or her cleavage.

You'll have someone's eye out with those.

I quite like Totally A Bad Guy Knight, his baroque armour is quite nicely done. So he got to try out the new metallics - this is Storm Surge Green, which makes for an excellent beetle carapace colour.

I don't know, maybe I've just painted so many models I've turned Cynic Jade. They're a pleasant enough group, ready to tackle some DnD module for levels 1-4. Good luck with the kobolds, team, and mind the mimic on the second level.

  1. It's not just you. I've noticed much the same. It's particularly noticeable with Reaper, where their catalog is large enough that the repeats on archetypes with minor variations really start standing out.

The Death Cult Assassin from Rogue Trader has the same problem as your nun here. Arguably worse, since her tits were *clearly* sharper than her sword. At least her model is plastic, so it was easier to file them down a little.

The Evil Knight is the best of the lot. The metallic green works nicely for him.

    1. It's a nice model (Order of the Nail? Some kind of Pathfinder villain, I think, from their official range), but the definition came out a little blurry for me. Needs sharper highlights! Nice colours, at least.

GW and the whole armoured boob nun can of worms is about to be reopened. Sigh - hope they can pull it off without looking ridiculous. Or making them overpowered. Or too expensive. Or with too many skulls everywhere. Or without turning into an entirely different company.

    2. I have faith in GW's design team. They successfully brought in female Stormcasts without anyone setting fire to their collection.

    3. They also gave the new Eschers those gawdawful high heels instead of the sensible boots that the old metal versions had. It's been kind of hit and miss.

    4. Can't be worse than the Raging Heroes catalogue, a company who exclusively sell cleat-wearing pole dancer warriors.

    5. Raging Heroes are pretty much the worst in that regard, yeah. It's mostly just the fact that the Eschers got *worse* when they were re-designed 20 years later that gets me.
