That's Thrall Folks

Commission contines.

I've slogged on through the Rubrics this week, getting the rest of them done. This lot have warpflamers (the last lot had bolters), so I got to do lots of little green flasks. Otherwise they're exactly the same as the last lot, and no less fiddly to do.

I'm still loving the canoptic helmets. Does that make them jarheads? There were some jackals in with this lot, and even one or two where the frilled decorations hadn't snapped off. Nice stuff, but clearly fragile.

Some Icons of Flame this time too - two normal ones, and then I found I had a spare it that was either a staff-topper or an icon, I wasn't sure. It got stuck on a warpflamer guy in the end, the army lists suggest this can be done so best to have that base covered.

Two sorcerers, to lead each of these units. There's sixeen Rubrics here. One big, one small, one spare? Plenty, at any rate.

Finally, the character for the week is Ahriman.

This is my second stab at the character, and this time his helmet was intact. Most of the time, anyway, those dangly scarves are the very devil for snapping. He does look a lot more imposing with his hat on, I must admit.

Something had gone very wrong with his base, though. The warpfire plume that the disk balances on had become unglued, and it proved virtually impossible to get it to go back in its hole and stay properly upright while any new glue dried. I splatted a ton of gel superglue in and prayed, and it didn't work out, he dried on squint and looked like he was about to plough into the floor.

I had to extend the flames with white stuff extensions to rectify this. Despite my rough and ready sculpting (if you look closely, there are fingerprints in there), it's good enough to hide under a model without looking out of place. It's a bit more robust than the original too, if less elegant.

I started the Mutalith this week as well, but it's not ready yet. Perhaps next time?
