Timecop

In the grim darkness of the far future, Jheri curls are still in fashion.

Marvel Crisis Protocol: Bishop
Just let your soul glow.

Bishop was a time-travelling mutant who, before joining the X-Men, served as a cop in the future-based Xavier's Security Enforcers. Since the rules of engagement for XSE were more aligned with Judge Dredd, he got to shoot a lot of his perps. And, being the early 90s, it went down a treat.

It's a great character design, being a more militarised version of the traditional X-uniform (not to mention a scarf so impractically large it wouldn't be seen until the advent of post-millennial Scandi-dramas).

There's some interesting character play to be had with a cop joining the X-Men (who are mainly outlaws), at the same time idolising them as legends, at the same time coming from a society with a different view on lethality. That said, in the first couple of years I read about Bishop, he didn't get much further than 'Gosh, that's a big gun. Why not have another?'.

Marvel Crisis Protocol: Bishop

Painting Bishop was a treat, with nice bold primary colours.
  • Uniform: Kantor Blue base, Macragge Blue and Caledor Sky layers
  • Uniform: Averland Sunset base, Cassandora Yellow wash, Averland Sunset and Yriel Yellow layers
  • Scarf: Khorne Red base, Mephiston Red and Wild Rider Red layers
  • Skin: Rhinox Hide base, Bestial Brown, Gorthor Brown, Knight-Questor Flesh drybrushing
  • Guns: Eshin Grey base, Dawnstone layer
  • Energy: Doomfire Magenta, blended with Ulthuan Grey

In an admirable nod to customisation, and the different looks of the character, this sprue comes with a choice of two heads: although anyone who picks the bald version over Jheri curls needs to have a word with themselves.
