Is he Avatarin' a Laugh?

A few more space elves, then I can get back to something less gemmy!

Saving the best for last is very much my way forward with commissions, and this was no exception. First up is a small unit of Rangers, the older finecast ones rather than the new plastics.

They're basically the same models, give or take a bit of scale creep, and very nice they are too. Almost too nice to be sneaky snipers, really, it doesn't scream stealth to have a gem-encrusted rifle and pristine armour. Those cloaks do a lot of work.

A small unit they may be, and probably more of a persistent nuisance than a genuine threat, but they do allow all the recently painted stuff to be tied together into a slightly bizarre Patrol detachment. Five of these fill out the Troops tax, then you can stuff the rest of the list with fancy psykers and Wraith constructs, which ought to be fun if nothing else.

Speaking of psykers, here's one of the fanciest - Eldrad Ulthuan, a named Farseer. Great staff, lovely helmet, far too many gems, but a good model all round I reckon.

Two other characters here - one is I think a homebrew conversion, who could be a Corsair leader, a spare Ranger or pretty much any other Eldar character you wanted him to be. Sniper rifle, sword and shuriken pistol covers a lot of bases.

Not sure I got that rainbow totally right.
Yichard Of Rork Gave Battle Vin Iain.

The other is Harlequin named sidekick Kyganil, usually seen hanging moodily around near Ephrael Stern. She's not around today (funny model her, hair going in all directions), so he's just dancing on a rainbow all by himself.

Lastly, a nice big model - it's the Avatar of Khaine!

Here he is again with the flash on, I couldn't get the light right to bring out his flame effect otherwise. Bit of smoky cotton wool on the base, bit of gloss varnish on the gems, otherwise he's got plenty of detail without needing to add extra.

This is the last generation Forge World chappie, swinging a big sword and coming right at you. It was a cracker, this one, although I do think the new plastic fella has the edge these days. The burning loincloth made my kids quite anxious. Why would you put clothes on him if he's on fire? And why doesn't it cover his arse properly? If the Eldar know, they aren't telling.

Very much enjoyed this lot, and there's some vehicles coming down the line for them. But it's been a few weeks, it's time for me to switch armies. Something I've been really looking forward to, as well. Watch this space!
