Creations of Bile vs The Thirteenth!
We return once again to the Deployment Zone!
I paid a visit to Swindon over Christmas, and this time I was bringing the Creations of Bile, my army from Hobbypocalypse 2021 - the Clonelord is loose!
This one is behind the paywall of Deployment Zone TV (although if there was ever a time to use their free trial...)
Chaos Space Marines - The Creations of Bile
This is everything I have for the army (hence the 1850pt limit), and it's an army crammed with characters and a lot of punch!
Basically, I have seven characters and six of them give out some kind of buff (the exception being the Master of Executions - he cleaves his own path). The rest of the army is for brutal melee, devastating firepower or board control.
It's an army that doesn't require much thought - which makes it great fun to play.

Space Marines - The Thirteenth
My old nemesis (and very favourite character in the Thirteenth), Chaplain Snow is back. He's leading Reaper Company, which is the Thirteenth's fourth company and the one designed to hunt other astartes (hence the veterans with all the lightning claws).
The Veterans go into the Land Raider, the Terminators and Snow go into the Stormraven, the other three squads go into the Drop Pods - this is a rapid reaction force with very little deployments to worry about!

Mission and Deployment
We were drawing from the Open War deck, which is fast becoming my favourite way to play 40k 9th Edition. The mission was Objective Drop (one I've played recently against Kraken) that involved a single, central objective that moves at the start of every turn (players dice-off to see the direction it moves).
You score a point for controlling it at the start of the third, fourth and fifth turn, with a bonus two points for controlling it at the end of the battle. It makes for great fun to scramble after the roaming objective.
We were deploying in classic Dawn of War formation, and the Twist was Last Stand, which meant that morale tests weren't going to be a problem.
As a bonus, because my army was 1pt lower than Winters' one, I got to benefit from the Ruse as well, which as Ambush (three of my units got to deploy out of the deployment zone).
This was all very narrative, since we'd spun the story that Fabius Bile had released a poor solider from the Thirteenth Militarum as bait to draw the rest of the Thirteenth into a trap.
But did he escape? Only one way to find out...
