Some Guys Have Or the Lock

The Gangs are all here!

Oo, you are Orful.

Orlocks! Never painted the originals. As with the Goliaths, they were a bit too bland and plasticky for my taste back then, although the lead ones were nice.

Shock and Orlock

Orlock Quiet on the Western Front

In fact, I ended up rather resenting the Orlocks. General Pootle's gang, The Flumps, was the gang to beat back in the day, and he still baits us by using the model as a chaos cultist with the Death Guard. I always knew he'd come to a bad end, that Pootle.

Orlocks Well That Ends Well

This lot round off my collection of original gangs! Now I just need Helot Cultists, Enforcers, Genestealer Cults and the all new cannibal guys. Luckily, three out of those are on their way. Who knows, perhaps I can get them all done before anything new gets released. Or before I get sidetracked by the Ambots. Or before my RSI finally kills me.

Ready Or Lock
Here I come

Truth Orlock Dare

The Orlocks as a House look after the caravans that move between spires on Necromunda, so they're outdoors types. I've gone with a sandy camo gear theme, plenty of battered leather and nothing too bright. Lovely kit to put together, very easy to swap arms and guns about. As though to compensate for this, the torsos are less flexible, they're all basically one piece body and legs.

Can't complain - rugged biker hipsters are a good look, a serious and solid gang. In the game, they're billed as generalists with nothing particular special about their tactics. That does them a bit of a disservice, though. They have access to a lot of cheap mid-range guns, their tactic cards give them extra movement, shots or group activations, and they're fierce and tough. So medium range firefighters, I'd say, and pretty good at it.

That's Orlock, Folks

This is yet to be proved on the tabletop, of course! If they can shift the Van Saar in a gun battle, they'll be doing well.

Painting Guide:

  • Undercoat - Corax White
  • Black Leather - Incubi Darkness, Nuln Oil, Dark Reaper, Dawnstone
  • Brown Leather - Rhinox Hide, Nuln Oil, Gorthor Brown, Skrag Brown
  • Jeans - Shadow Grey, Drakenhof Nightshade, Russ Grey mixed with Ash Grey
  • Metal - Gunmetal mixed with Black, Nuln Oil, Platemail drybrush, Stormhost Silver highlights
  • T-shirts - Ash Grey, Nuln Oil, Ash Grey again, Ash grey with White
  • Skin - Tanned Flesh, Reikland Flesh Wash, Barbarian Flesh, Kislev Flesh
  • Camo gear - Karak Stone base, then camo blobs done in Tau Light Ochre, Flayed One Flesh and Gorthor Brown, then Seraphim Sepia wash and Terminatus Stone drybrush. Some light sponging with Rhinox Hide and Shining Silver for battle damage.
  • Leather Straps - Leather Brown with Dark Tone
  • Bases - The Usual now, Gunmetal washed with Black, then watered down Skrag Brown, then dual drybrushes of Platemail and Shining Silver

Necromunda, may I just take a moment to say, is a really good game and I recommend it! Getting these first sixty gangers done feels like a proper achievement, one I have secretly harboured since the first edition. Lovely models, very entertaining game and plenty more still to come!
