It's a bear. Hope I didn't bungle it.
It's a bear. No hint of cybernetics, no trace of a costume, nothing to suggest it's anything other than a model of a bear. I love it.
Ursa Major (who may actually be a major) is a Russian shapeshifter who transforms into his country's national animal, which is handy. He also comes with the subtitle of 'World's Drunkest Bear' and has to be the most militarised ursine since Wojtek the bear signed up to the Polish artillery in WWII.
In-game, he seems quite straightforward: head straight towards the enemy and start slapping them with his bear hands. He's considered suboptimal, but he would have to be several degrees of magnitude worse to stop me from fielding a great big bear in my team.
Painting-wise, it was basically a drybrush-with benefits. A Rhinox Hide base, then drybrushes of Mournfang Brown and Balor Brown, trying to avoid the deepest areas and the muzzle. I then did a careful layering of Balor Brown/Zamesi Desert on the obvious bits of fur.
Black Legion contrast on the nose, lips and paws. Zandri Dust and Ushabti Bone on the teeth and claws, with a lick of Skeleton Horde contrast.
With the bear necessities done, it's time to take him off the leash.
