Scarabbie Burns

With the Rubrics done, we’re on to the big lads.

These hefty fellas are very much a core part of Thousand Sons. A chewy brick of terminators who can sit on an objective and hurl out firepower as you vainly try to whittle them down? Very handy.

There is another unit still to go. These are the standard GW ones, not much in whistles or bells. One of the sorcerers has a magnetic arm, so he can get demoted to Scarab if they’re fielded in a unit of ten.

A few of them have some heat damage going on (warped bolters rather than warp bolters). Kas says they were by his window on a hot day, and some of them went a bit blurry. Very weird - I know the UK had a heatwave, but it takes a fair amount of heat to do that! I reckon he’s lying, and it was a daemonic ritual that went wrong.

Either way, I decided I would lean into the damage rather than try and paint it right. So in the few places where its noticeable (mostly the magnet sorcerer), I did a bit of black and green burn damage with a sponge.

There’s an Exalted Sorcerer to lead these guys, a disc rider. Love that book! Also the huge feather at his hip, it’s a weird touch but a good one.

Right, on to the next lot!

  1. Scarab Terminators are great to paint - all the flair of Rubrics, but considerate enough not to hold their bolters across their chests.
