I think not giving her the One Ring was probably the right call.
Something I like about the Asgardian faction is that it contains almost as many villains as heroes, yet you can creditably imagine them banding together (like a squabbling family that will immediately close ranks if an outsider tries to join in).
This is Hela, Queen of Hel (one of these days I'll have to count up the feudal titles in MCP). She was an early release, which is shown by the almost two-dimensional nature of her sculpt (reminds me of the old one-piece lead casts).
Painting-wise, once the black was out of the way (prime Chaos Black, drybrush up from dark to light grey, wash with Nuln Oil), it was just a matter of picking out the green details.
The cloak and detailing was based with Lupercal Green, then layered up with Kabablite Green and Warpstone Glow. Similar wet blending on the horns.
The magical swirls were based Ulthaun Grey, then washed with Hexwraith Flame (that proto-contrast paint) and layered with Yriel Yellow. The sword was detailed with Leadbelcher, then washed with Karandras Green contrast.
As an extra touch for the base (I never do this enough), I added a stray newspaper. These were printed from the excellent Brush Wizard website as Daily Bugle headlines.
Another downside with Hela's early release: they hadn't introduced the concept of Grunts yet. It's a shame, as she would love to continually resurrect bases of undead warriors. I might rummage around my skeleton set and see what I can use as extra terrain.
