Valiant Last Stand

Oh, I can taste the bottom of the box now. It tastes like varnish.

One last burst, and I've finished all the heroes (bar one, but he's a bit special). I've been painting them as they fell out of the bag generally, so it was nice to get a really good selection for the last batch. They got a few extra touches as a reward.

Silas
Extra Touch: Colour shift metallic on the sword. He was the first hero I ever played as, and one of the last out of the box.

Warchief Lividia.
Extra Touch: Eyebrows? I dunno, she didn't really get one

Karl
Extra Touch: Cloak lining, plus accidentally worried eyebrows

Rolf
Extra Touch: Tartan! Not my best, because it's very hard, but does the job at least.

Sylvia Samedi
Extra Touch: Stripy headband. Not much, but I also didn't laugh at her daft name, so that makes us even.

Asim
Extra Touch: Nope, just classy black leather

Clovis.
Extra touch: NMM metals for his shield and blades, I'm quite pleased with how well this came out.

This mixologist forgot his shaker. He's the Horde Brother, a particularly giant ork who brings a bonus swarm with him.

Also a rack of barbecue ribs and a dead dog for pudding.

What could this be, lurking in the bushes?

The Swamp Lurker! Half ork, half crab, half shark. Which makes this Shorkrab Week, I guess.

Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?
The Shadork Knows!

Finally, twin heroes Kirag and Thorg!

What a stupendous model. Designed by Paul Bonner, it's a dwarf riding an ogre.

I can't like this one enough, it's got tons of nice details (the picnic kit hanging from his back, for example). It's also massive, and made for a great final hero to do.
The extra touch here was using some Chipping Medium (Valleho's one) on the totem pole horns. Painted brown to start with, then varnished as above.

Then a layer of chipping medium over the horns, a lick of stripy paint and let it dry. Then wet it again and wipe it gently with a baby wipe to weather away the paint.

And he's done. Smasher.

Also another Archon Mimic, this time a classic chesty one. Nice tongue ring.

Next time, it's the Necromancers!
