Ultramarines
This army goes back to when I started Rogue Trader in early 1990. I painted a few of the RTB01 marines I started with as Blood Angels but moved onto Ultramarines pretty quickly.

Gravis Captain and Two Primaris Lieutenants with Power Swords
Captain with Jump Pack
This guy is magnetised to swap out both arms. Here he's sporting an extremely OTT double-length chainsword posing as the Teeth of Terra relic |
Captain
You can probably tell that this one dates back to the early 90s. I loved this model and he still features as a common-or-garden power armoured Captain in my armies
And ahead of a YouTube game against Winters, I've repainted him:
Terminator Captain and Librarian
Librarian with Force Stave
Chaplain with Jump Pack
His Storm Bolter (two bolt pistols stuck together) is magnetised and can switch out for a Power Fist |
Primaris Lieutenant
This fellow sports an impromptu moustache made as a joke for a game I played against Kraken and I've yet to remove it as it looks strangely approprriate! |
Lieutenants with Jump Packs and Power Axes
Some of the very last minis I painted when I was at school. A friend had a lucky dip of metal stuff and I grabbed two old Assault Marines and a couple of Eldar Exarch wings to use as jump packs. Very silly, very fun! I decided to paint one as a Blood Angel for old times' sake: the first half dozen marines I painted were dirty-red Blood Angels so I wanted to try painting a cleaner version. |
Tactical Marines
I've another unit of five more modern Tac marines painted up so I can easily field 15 of them (with plenty of choices of heavy/special weapons due to magnetisation) |
Intercessor Squad
Assault Intercessors
Scout Squad
Sniper Scout Squad
One of these is magnetised so he can swap out for a Missile Launcher |
Assorted metal
Apothecary and Judiciar
Chapter Champion
Reiver Squad
Terminators
I've got nearly 20 old lead Terminators with varying loadouts. Pick of the bunch is the centre one here, an original Exo-Armoured Marine from 1988 |
I love these old lead Termies! I gave them a slightly more dynamic look by green-stuffing the arms into different poses. |
Venerable Dreadnought
This fellow could proxy as a regular Dreadnoughtand. On the left is the shooty-variant with scratch-built Missile Launcher to go with the twin Lascannon. On the right, he has a Plasma Cannon (can swap for an Assault Cannon) and Fist.
Ironclad Dreadnought
Arms are magnetised so all the options here |
Bikes and Attack Bike
Inceptors
These guys are the ETB variety, so no magnets here. I do have an unpainted magnetised unit. |
Land Speeder
Guess what? It's magnetised so the Typhoon Missile Launcher can come off and an Assault Cannon added underneath. And the Multimelta swaps out for a Heavy Bolter obviously |
Centurion Devastators
Magnetised for all three arm weapon options; I couldn't see an easy way to magnetise the chest weapons, but they're so small it's hard to tell whether they're Missile Launchers or Hurricane Bolters |
Devastator Squad
Magnetised for two each of weapon option, plus I have multiple Tac marines with Missile Launchers, so possible to fill a squad with those |
Hellblaster Squad
Land Raider
Magnetised for each of the three main variants. This is the Redeemer... |
...and this is the classic load-out. I can also switch the Redeemer to the Crusader version with Hurricane Bolters |
Predator/Whirlwind
Fully magnetised of course, including the Hunter-killer missile. It can be turned into a Razorback (with any of the weapon options) or just a plain Rhino |
Repulsor
This is fully magnetised too, but I'm only showing the anti-infantry version here |
Razorback/Rhino
...or just as a plain Rhino |
Stormhawk Interceptor/Stormtalon Gunship
This was great fun to build. I wanted to magnetise to either option, which ended up costing almost as much in magnets as just buying two kits, but that's not the point! Obviously all possible loadouts are available. If you want to try this yourself, these are the instructions I used.
