Shut That Dor

Completionist Frenzy!

Tabardtha Coffey - he does his own hair.

I got birthday money earlier this month! It lasted all of half an hour. As the dust settled, I discovered I'd finally finished my set of Necromunda House gangs!

Literally two hours later, G-Dubs announced that the new box set would be coming out the following weekend. Sigh.

What Bloody Man is That?

Well, nothing that a few commissioned marines can't fix, so that'll be on its way in due course. But for now, here are the gangers of House Cawdor. Fine looking types too, the aesthetics on these spindly scavengers is very good.

MacDuffYouUp

Not sure I can quite say the same of the kit, wholeheartedly. You'll see the Orlocks when they're done, I was building them side by side. That set lends itself to conversions very readily, all the arms are interchangable and the guns clip off neatly. The Cawdor are a pain to build, let alone convert. They're far more locked into the stock poses and the weedy pole weapon hilts are terrifying to chop about, they're so thin! But I persevered anyway.

Bombquo

Simplest bit of conversion was to glue some grenades to this venerable Warhammer Quest rat. Instant delivery system, one of the games finest silly bits of wargear. Training the giant rats to deliver bombs is a Cawdor thing, and looks appropriately inaccurate and random. Can't wait to blow myself up with them!

Flaileance

Guncan, King of Scobs

The other conversions are mostly pose and gun tweaks, nothing major. The only other fiddly one was giving the gang leader the Cawdor special combi-gun, which is an Autogun/Flamer. A couple of spare Scion parts went into this, including some of the fancy dangling thread from one of their banners to make the cable. Putting one gun on each end of a quarterstaff seems like a suitably ropy Cawdor fix - just don't stand behind him when he fires both barrels.

Inthane in the Membrane

Red and bone for these guys. I wasn't sure what to do with the masks, Stylus suggested a black-on-green obsidian look which I half committed to and then changed my mind at the layering stage to this faded black leather look. Given that they're fairly redemptionist and bright otherwise, the dark masks are a good contrast.

Went Insane! Dunsinane!

In game, Cawdor are cheap and poorly equipped gangs best suited to close-range rushes with their motley gear. Blunderbusses, petrol bombs and weight of numbers, as well as a few pretty choice House-specific tactics cards, make them seem appealing on paper. Whether any of it means anything against the ranged firepower of other gangs is yet to be seen!

He's got a bottle of Nukey Brown.

Names-wise, as my other gangs have identities now, this is The Holy Order Of Cawdor Knights, or THOOK for short. It's also the noise the giant crossbow makes when you fire it.

Birnam Wood doesn't stand a chance.

  1. I do like that colour scheme - the contrasting black face mask draws your eye in. I await the Orlocks with interest...

    1. Shame I didn't draw their eyes in! Those holes were a bit too dauntingly small, but the washes do a decent enough job I reckon!

    2. In that case I retract my assessment - what a terrible paint-job ;-)

  2. Birnam Wood's got a long way to go!

I like them a lot better in red like this than the "standard" blue and yellow. I can totally see the Leader spinning the staff around over his head, spraying lead and fire everywhere!

    1. I reckon it's only got one trigger, to save on parts.
