Festive Balls

On the sixteenth day of Advent the WoffBoot brought to me ... a door with a lovely set of knockers.

Feel free to play the Benny Hill theme in your head.

But these are no ordinary balls. These balls have Night Goblins on the end of them.

These are the first of the 7th Ed (teeny-weenie) Night Goblins that I've owned. I picked up the set cheap, on the basis that you really can't ever have enough swinging balls.

Boom-tish!

Aside from the neglected bases, the paint job was a decent one. Unfortunately, not my style (I've never taken to this new-fangled layer highlighting - give me an ink and drybrush every time).

And so the wee swingers were repainted in the house style, although I was able to utilise the existing paint scheme to my advantage: throwing Brown Ink over the highlighted ropes, and Black Ink over the silver balls, before adding my own colours.

I don't know why he has a mask. Maybe it's a secret identity?

As always, every metal surface got covered in Typhus Corrosion, then highlighted with Reza Rust. Gork help me if I ever have to paint something shiny like knights - the only metal I can do is the deeply rusted.

Spot the centre of gravity.

Even composed entirely of plastic, these models suffer the usual Fanatic issue of overbalancing. And so they got the usual Fanatic solution of tuppences stuck to their bottoms.

WILSON!

I like having more variety in the Fanatics, but I'm not a huge fan of these. Without the 'big face' 5th Ed Night Goblins, there doesn't seem to be much in the model to work with. I can imagine painting a whole unit of Skull Pass goblins could get quite dull.

These are for the Night Goblin spears I painted last year, so they have the simplest of all paint schemes with the black robes.

I actually never finished that unit with a unit filler - ah well, maybe Santa will be kind...
