For the other half of my Hobbypocalypse month - a very hungry spider!
I don't have many daemon engines to my credit, but the Venomcrawler is by far my favourite. I've already painted one as a tester model for the army scheme (before I even knew there was an army that needed a scheme!) and this one was also a breeze to paint. I'm seriously considering adding a third one already.
But since I'd already done one in the standard manner, I thought to spice this up with a friendly dig at one of my fellow Hobbypocalyse horsemen - the Deathwatch of Sultan!
I have a stack of second-hand Space Marines that I bought cheaply to use as basing material, so this one got promptly dismembered and then reassembled to have a talon shoved into his back (fans of Starship Troopers may recognise this method of attack).
The scheme is simple enough, applied over a black undercoat (or in this case, whatever colour was already there):
- Armour: Wraithbone base, Seraphim Sepia wash, Bleached Bone drybrush
- Gold: Retributor Armour base, Agra Earthshade wash, Golden Griffin drybrush
- Red claws: Khorne Red base, Nuln Oil wash
- Lots of the cabling and power packs were achieved with Contrast paints over white
- Deathwatch armour: Black base, Thunderhawk Blue drybrush, Fenrisian Grey drybrush, Nuln Oil wash.
Naughty little fly, why does it cry? |
The finishing touch was to add some Bostik All-Purpose glue to show the slimey threads that are starting to envelop this poor astartes.
That's my quota met for Month 3 - see you back again for the next one!
I love the little touches like the blue electrical effect where the claw's going in and the Bostik
ReplyDeleteThanks, the power pack effect came very late in the game - when I realised he wouldn't be gushing blood from that wound!
DeleteAwesome little diorama and nod to Starship Troopers! Great job
ReplyDeleteThank you!
