Big Gunk Never Tires

Right back to work on a short 40K commission!

Leofa has magnetised these splendid Blightlord Terminators. Between the eight of them (or, well, seven and a Lord. You can't field a squad of eight Death Guard, it wouldn't be right), they have all the weapon options covered, with the option of splitting three of them off to be Deathshrouds, the elite bodyguard variant.

Expensive either way, you at least get a lot of bang for your yuck. Nasty special weapons like plague flails or blight launchers, or just a classic selection of combi-weapons - all that power with the ridiculous toughness of Nurgle marines. Their price is really their only weakness.

These are painted in no particular style, although they're to match Leofa's previous Death Guard army. A few standard marines with special weapons too, in fact, to bolster the options of those squads.

Here's three of them swapped into Deathshroud form. Leofa is really very clever with magnets, that's intelligent and neat work there!

It's mostly greens and browns, of course, layered and highlighted before the wash to keep them drab. Then a few sparing glossy bits, plenty of rusty effects paints and very thin metal edging here and there.

Great models! So much detail that it gets a bit overwhelming, in fact, it's so easy to overlook all the pipes, drips, crevices and nodules that festoon the rotting blighters. The heavy weapon guy with the elephantiasis is my favourite. Standard flesh tones but with a lick Genestealer Purple on the bottom edges, it came out nice and unpleasantly.

Speaking of hideous detail, a Biologus Putrifier and his marvellous array of flasks. What a simultaneous pain and joy to do! He's got a whole bar behind him, and they're brilliantly detailed but exceedingly tiny. Came out okay, anyway.

And a leader, because you need to have one somewhere. It's Typhus, the newer plastic one! Another fiddly bugger, those flies in the smoke over his shoulders are a right faff. Smasher though he is, I personally prefer the older lead model. Product of a more sedate age, of course, and much less dynamic. But something in me dies every time I see a character with one foot on a rock.

The summer weather over here has been dreadful. It's great, I've gotten loads of painting done. More soon!

  1. Very nice! I do love the Blightlord models, they were such fun (if a little complicated) to paint. I'm a great admirer of Leofa's magnetisation: I hadn't thought of magnetising these guys to act as Deathshroud, that's a great idea.

  2. Good work! You've painted all these Terminators in the same time it took me to procrastinate about undercoating mine.
