Hark! The Herald Angels Burn

Some reinforcements from the realms of glory!

40k Sisters of Battle, Adepta Sororitas, Seraphim

I've been neglectful of my Order of the Blessed Saint Daphne force - indeed, a quick glimpse at past battle reports tells me I've hardly played it!

Thankfully, I had The Sweetwater Egress campaign to revive my enthusiasm.

Thanks to the Warhammer Imperium magazine (proud sponsors of my unpainted pile), I had a whole 'starter set' of Adepta Sororitas. Which meant a whole new squad of Seraphim.

I'd converted my original set of jump-Sisters into the more combat-orientated Zephrim, but a set of the shooty ones would be nice, both for completion (and the more gamey reason of having a cheap unit of deepstrikers that can jump on on objectives, but isn't required to charge).

They all came with bolt pistols, which has a nice duellist feel, but since two of them can have special weapon pistols, I'd be daft not to get out the conversion clippers.

Hand flamers seem the most characterful (inferno pistols are the other choice, but melta isn't what it used to be, anyway), and fortunately I had a couple of spares from my abortive attempt at a Genestealer Cults army.

Plasma pistol and power sword for the boss, naturally. With the standard 'Storm from 80s X-Men' mohawk.

  • Reverse-robes: Naggaroth Night base, Genestealer Purple layer
  • Bolter casing: Baneblade Brown, Agrax Earthshade wash
  • Wings: Jokareo Orange layer, Gryph-hound Orange contrast, Fire Dragon Crimson highlights
  • Purity Seals (wax): Naggaroth Night base, Genestealer Purple layer
  • Purity Seals (paper): Zandri Dust base, Screaming Skill layer

And in the classic Sororitas philosophy of pour encourager les autres, I added some Penitent Engines!

These are both the monopose Engines from the starter kit, so I modified the limbs on one of them (and borrowed a penitent from the multi-pose kit, for a bit of variety).

They're basically the same colour scheme as the Battle Sisters, so I added some tartan and camo pattern on the penitents' trousers to give me something interesting to do.

I've still got plenty more Sisters to add (and for once, no desire to buy any more), so it's possible I might be able to crack down and finish the army (believe in miracles).
