Now Presenting: The Silver Cage

Hold onto your khopesh, it's going to be a bumpy ride!

The Silver Cage: a DZTV narrative campaign between Thousand Sons and Grey Knights

Way back in the autumn of 2019, I pitched a narrative campaign to Winters SEO: Thousand Sons vs Grey Knights.

We thought to wait until 9th Edition was released ... and then until both armies had a new codex ... and then for the world to come out of lockdown. And a mere three years later, we got to film it!

The first episode is available to view on YouTube, and the whole adventure will be released on Deployment Zone (if you haven't yet taken advantage of the one-week free trial, the end of May might be a good opportunity to do so).

The campaign was fantastic to play - a long-held ambition of mine, with the kind of twists and turns that you only get when you're playing full-narrative Warhammer. Between us, I think we delivered a very cinematic experience.

I won't post any images of the battles, since some of the scenarios were so unusual, even seeing them would could as spoilers, but here's everything Winters brought to the party:

And here are all my forces (a quick inventory on my own table, before they got packed up unto many, many boxes) - with an additional Heldrake kindly loaned by Rapid (bringing just two dragons felt wrong).

So that would explain all the manic painting I've been doing this year - and I finally managed to complete the nine sorcerers of The Court of Miracles. Which was just as well, because this story was all about the Tzeentch warband you love to hate.

And credit to the artwork of the series: it's a homage to a classic Uncanny X-Men cover by legendary artist Marc Silvestri, and my flat freehand was given the cinematic style by the graphic wizardry of DZTV stalwart Arachnoides.

Do give it a watch, and I'd love to know what you thought of it.
