And The Highwayman Came Painting ... Painting ... Painting

My March leadpile challenge is done!

Fantasy Roleplay miniatures - Highwayman andRoad Agent

Just a brace of miniatures this time (I have no say over the Wheel of Fate) - but these have a very long pedigree of not-getting-done.

These two riders were bought to represent RPG characters ... which were last played in 2001.

I got them from Orc's Nest, a gem of a hobby store tucked away in Shaftsbury Avenue. They were a pack of three generic riders (the third one made it out as a Gold Wizard years ago) and seemed a good fit (at a budget price) for some highwayman.

The 'face' of the highway robbery was The Crimson Cardinal (named after the bird, not the priest, although it did necessitate much explanation and somewhat undercut his dramatic entrances).

It doesn't help that I used an actual cleric on horseback for him, with a headswap for a nobleman and his mitre replaced with a trusty (and, looking at the scale, enormous) pistol. He also has a stuffed bag of coins on his saddlebag, completing the look.

Backing him up is Fidor Happysack, the inherently more practical and violent of the pair. This was a simple man-at-arms, with his lance replaced by whatever weapons I could fit on there: crossbow, short short, broadsword, pistol, hatchet and shield. He also has a very odd-looking red beard, but I assume that's more of a defensive weapon.

So quick and easy, but a nice canter down memory lane while I was painting them. You never know, they may find a role as hired swords in Mordheim.

  1. Ork's Nest is a brilliant place. I used to get Reaper lead and roleplaying supplements from there all the time!
