Do Not Be Hasty

February challenge completed!

Wood Elf Treekin from Warhammer Fantasy Battle, using Aly and Trish Morrison Marauder Treemen.

Wood Elf Treekin from Warhammer Fantasy Battle - they got done eventually. I am not hasty painter.

This trio have been waiting to bulk out my unit of Treekin since before the destruction of the Old World, so I'm glad my random wheel spin gave me these to complete, so they're all ready for its rebirth!

These three men are conversions of the original Marauder Treemen from Aly and Trish Morrison. I say 'conversions' - they're comprised of three heavy lumps of lead, so basically the arms have been swapped around and greenstuff heartwood stuffed into the gaps.

It has resulted in some very 'unnatural' poses, but having seen the trees in my garden (at least when I'm done pruning them), it actually looks natural.

If I were being sensible or meticulous, I suppose I would have matched these the colours to the original three I painted twenty years ago, but my 'where's the fun in that?' switch flicked on, and I decided to have a play around instead.

The first treeman was painted Dryad Bark, with drybrushes of Zandri Dust, moss of Karak Stone and Agrax Earthshade, and Rhinox Hide claws.

The second one was Tallarn Sand base with Agrax Earthshade wash, Elysian Green moss with Athonian Camoshade, Zandri Dust highlights and Castellan Green claws.

The final one started with a wash of Gore-Grunta Fur contrast, Zandri Dust drybrushing and highlights, Skragg Brown and Agrax Earthshade moss. All the fungus was done with Bleached Bone and Gulliman Flesh contrast.

I'm happy with the results, which were quick and fun to paint and have come out nicely arboreal. The drawback is they don't match the old treemen, but I guess that's forest ecology for you.

I think they mix up nicely - and more importantly, they're finally off the painting queue!
