EXT: Reputable Vendor of Fine Meats

Underhive scenery!

These look better from a distance, I need to go over the lining with a pen

Next on my production line is the Necromundan snack shack I made last year. Some of the set dressing got done back then, but now it's finally all done and assembled.

This is a plastic cookie tray (I want to say Marabou soft bake choc chip, by the smell), filled with insulation foam for strength and then glued to a quarter of a GW Zone Mortalis floor tile. Two Deep Madness doorways got sacrificed for this one, one as a doorway, the other turned on its side and chopped apart to make the vending window.

Headbutt the skull for service. Smiles extra.

The proprietor (est. M38) is a classic lead Reaper model, the bouncer from a bar patrons NPC blister who's been lurking in my box of metal for years now. He was an afterthought - I painted over his original paint job (fine, but no layers or shading back then so a bit flat), then had to hack space for him through the window before crudely gluing him into place. It's very much a hack job, I hope it holds.

Our trademark Wild Snake and Sump Oil glaze is very popular

Greenstuff World transfers for the graffiti, which made it a very simple job of painting the background in a big blob then putting the transfer on top. Great pack, these, they look fine by themselves. Next time I use them, though, I'll feel honour bound to paint in extra details and colours, plain black isn't doing them enough justice.

Paper posters plastered on with PVA, then weathered with washes. And some Vallejo Thick Mud round the back to cover the crude join between cookie carton and detailed base.

Another lead box rescue job is this original Necromundan Giant Rat, once looked after by a Beastmaster Rogue Psyker and now feral once more.

Having given myself a free ride with the graffiti, the sign had to be done the hard way. Flat MDF offcut painted black, then woodwork done with Karak Stone and lines of Reikland Fleshshade and Templar Black, before plain white lettering on top. Could be neater, I know, but it's the Underhive. Literacy probably marks you out for death, let alone decent calligraphy.

Flame grilled for your perfect taste, we've got everything from Ambull to Zoat.

The set dressing is a mish-mash of various MDF offcuts, plastic pipes and bits box spares (including a Trish Morrisson Minotaur head).  The copper pipe under the shelf is part of a sprue, and the gas cylinders are actual gas cylinders, nitrous oxide I think, scavenged from between the cobbles of the mean streets of Gothenburg outside my very house. If there's anything more Necromundan than making scenery out of discarded street drugs, I probably don't want to go there.

More to come!
