Competition Winner!

I got my priority orders!

Templar Tom, it's no huge surprise to hear, collects Black Templars. So he requested the Terminator Captain in suitable style.

I asked him for a helpful list of the paints he uses, so I could try and match this to his army as best possible, and he was very obliging. Er, except that I didn't have several of the most important ones! No Thunderhawk Blue for the edge highlights, for example, and I'm totally out of Agrax Earthshade at the moment.

Luckily, I had plenty of other options to make up the shortfall, and he came out looking fairly tidy. Three hours work total, and he'll be carefully wrapped and posted in the near (and hopefully non-grimdark) future.

Painting Guide:

  • Black - Generic black acrylic, Dark Reaper layer, Russ Grey and Russ Grey + white highlights
  • White - Celestia Grey, Nuln Oil, Ulthuan Grey and White Scar layers
  • Red - Khorne Red, Carroberg Crimson wash, Pure Red, Wild Rider Red, Lava Orange and Kislev Flesh layers, a little Typhus Corrosion along the bottom of the cloak for staining
  • Gold - Greedy Gold, Reikland Flesh wash, Auric Armour Gold, Sigmarite, a little Shining Silver touched in
  • Lenses - Moot Green layered up with white
  • Scrolls - Rakarth Flesh, Reikland Flesh wash, Pallid Wychflesh, black inking
  • Silvers - Gunmetal, Plate Metal, Nuln Oil Gloss wash
  • Heat Vents - Pure Red, then watered down Lava Orange and Demonic Yellow washed in plus a bit of white to finish
  • Leathers - Rhinox Hide, Nuln Oil, Skrag Brown edges, Deathclaw Brown layer, light Tyrant Skull drybrush
  • Skulls - Karak Stone, Dark Tone wash, Ushabti Bone, Tyrant Skull drybrush
  • Base - Sand, Zhandri Dust, Dark Tone wash, Ushabti Bone and Tyrant Skull drybrushes, assorted stones and a tuft

Tom - I fully expect to hear news of his first outing, please!

    1. Cheers! It's a chore painting it and I'm not really neat enough to do it well, but it does brighten up a model nicely.
